NATURAL ABSTRACTIONS
beauty can arise where you least expect it
I call "natural abstractions" abstract forms created solely by time, nature and the elements. They are ephemeral traces, largely discovered while exploring abandoned urban areas such as industrial wasteland, junkyards and unfinished worksites which show us that beauty can arise where you least expect it.
This project has been awarded numerous international prizes and received the label COP 21.
OTHER PROJECTS
PAREIDOLIA
A pareidolia is a kind of optical illusion which associates a visual stimulus with an identifiable object, often a human being or an animal. The human brain is particularly inclined to recognize a face whenever an object looks similar to it.
This serie is part of the exhibition Natural Abstraction.
TRIBUTE
Series based on the superposition of two images made from the monumental sculpture of Emile Gilioli located on the Glières plateau in Haute Savoie (France).
PANDORA
Series of new experiments based on the multiple shooting of the same place. Here the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
The SPOOL
Series based on the sculpture "THE SPOOL", from the American artist John Besbee which is composed of thousands of welded nails. The sculpture is part of the Snite Museum of Art (Notre Dame, USA).
THE CELESTIA TRIPTYCH
Following the exhibition at the United Nations from 2nd to 20th June 2014, the 3.6 m triptych CELESTIA was offered to the UN in Geneva by the Permanent Mission of France. It can now be seen as part of the guided tours by more than 100,000 visitors each year.
THE BRICK
On June 4, 2018 at the International Labor Office in Geneva, with Kailash Satyarthi, Nobel Peace Prize 2014 and Indian activist for children's rights, we unveiled "The Brick" an installation I made in commemoration of the launch, 20 years ago, of the Global March against Child Labor. I brought this brick (2.6 Kg) last December during a report in Madagascar. The little girl we see on the right of the picture is not 10 years old and carries 26 kilos on her head. It is paid 0.0028 USD per brick transported.

Marcel Crozet
Born in 1962, lives in Annecy
After covering the Iran-Iraq war in 1986, I spent almost a year in the slums of Calcutta as a volunteer, but also to produce a photo book with Mother Teresa. Since then, I have been working as a photographer for the United Nations.
During my coverage of numerous emergency situations on all continents and capturing visits of heads of State to the UN, photographic abstraction slowly but surely became a way to incorporate a part of dream in my photographic production.
1986
Clandestine coverage of the Iran-Iraq conflict as a freelancer.
1989
First time in Calcutta to make a photographic book with Mother Teresa and work as a volunteer.

First reports for the United Nations.

Beginning of collaboration with CIRIC news agency
